Optimizing of rotting processes with sensor controlled aeration
The optimal oxygen supply is the main subject of every rotting process and equivalently important to an optimal water household. An under or over supply with oxygen (air) leads to a drying-out or putrefaction of the rotting material.
So oxygen is vital for aerobic decomposition organisms and therefore the primary rotting factor.
Since a part of the generated heat is released to the environment, the temperature is to be considered as a secondary factor.
The temperature rather is a product of an active rotting process where the water content and the demand-oriented oxygen supply in the decomposition material is optimal.
Research has shown that in a pile a predetermination resp. precalculation of the oxygen requirements for ventilation systems (and thus the ventilation intervals) is not possible. Until today no regularities could be found. Interval and temperature controlled plants are in an undefined state. Only with COMPO-matic®, the decomposition control system which was in use for several years, the necessary oxygen supply of the rotting material can be maintained according to the oxygen requirements in a real-time process and the odours can be reduced to a minimum.
This demand-oriented oxygen supply enables both shorter composting periodes simultaneously and an essential improvement of the compost quality.

Oxygen measuring equipment in use
|
by means of:
- A probe technology especially developed for aggressive conditions of composting
- Simultaneous measuring of the decomposition/rotting factors oxygen and temperature with only one probe.
- All data are directly measured in the compost windrow
- Control of the ventilation technology during real time operation by means of the measuring data
- At the same time measuring, processing and evaluation of the data for oxygen, temperature and temperature profile in the windrow at simultaneous calculation and display of the hygienisation line.
- Applicable to all composting processes, either closed or open, either being a new plant or a retrofitted one, also for box composting.
- Sucessfully tested by the hygiene-test type-system of the German Compost Quality Assurance Organisation BGK and operative without housing or covering.
